I Am A Missionary...It's taken me a while to come to that conclusion. My idea of a missionary was a person willing to leave all the comforts of home, go to a far away land and live in poverty the rest of their life. I didn't understand that mentality, and certainly didn't want that kind of life!
My first trip to Belize as a short-term missionary was pivotal. I learned so much about God, and came home with a hungry heart to learn more. God has filled my hungry heart with more than I could ever imagine. I’ve learned what being a missionary truly is. It is fulfilling the great commission in Acts 1:8... Jesus said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” As Christians, as Ambassadors of Christ, as missionaries, it’s not just doing good deeds with your faith. In the book of James, James (the brother of Jesus) talks very bluntly about how we are to do those good deeds, but there is a message that can be missed if you don’t meditate on the scripture.... all of those deeds happen through our faith AND in a relational way! God wants us to know His great love through things our bodies can comprehend... by hearing, by seeing, by touching, by using the senses we've been given. God has been teaching me about His relational way, His weaving, and showed me an awesome view of it in January of 2013 while in Belize. As we were gathered on the sand on our last night, our group stood in a circle. As we sang and worshiped Jesus, a man came up along side of us. He didn’t step into our circle, but through shadows that were being cast, ALL of our shadows became like a weaving, including this man’s. What God impressed upon me in that moment, was that God’s love is like an amazing tapestry. He wants all of us to be woven together. The threads that are woven are golden, made of God’s pure love. Being a missionary is about reaching others, being willing to give, and most of all receive... from the people you’re helping, and from God. It is about sharing the TRULY WONDERFUL NEWS of who Jesus IS. It is about weaving a brilliant golden cloth with the pure love of Jesus. God has been stretching me to expand my vision of what I can do as a missionary. Since the Fall of 2014, the Lord has connected me with churches other than my own. Through joining in making joyful noises with these Worship Teams, I have the privilege of spreading the Lord's heart to these congregations and fellow musicians. More than that, the Lord has been sharpening the prophetic voice that comes from my relationship with Him, flowing through my heart and instrument. The Lord has also instructed me to record more of the music that comes out of my prayer time with Him. I invite you to experience what He's given me recently on the Prophetic Music page. God has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams through trips to Belize, His music ministry, and His gift of music & art creation. There are a couple of ways you can help me, in order of importance:
